On July 30, within the exhibition smoothing (lines into circles), A Tale of a Tub will host two reading performances by MARIA BARNAS and ÖZGÜR ATLAGAN, both engaging with the question of mother language(s) and translation, in search of new languages.

-MARIA BARNAS will present the English translation of her new collection of poems, DIAMOND WITHOUT AN R (PROLOGUE) (translated from Dutch by Michele Hutchison, designed by Felix Salut), and read the first part of the collection, the poem The Fountain, the Hairdryer and The Scream, together with the audience, asking for their support to read the unspeakable.

-ÖZGÜR ATLAGAN will perform several pieces from the cassette tape Letter to N released by Het Generiek in June 2021. Letter to N brings together synths and field recordings with short stories and fragments of texts written between 2016-21. The stories are poetic takes on the justice system, torture, capital punishment, urban transformation, and plunder. The stories are recorded in Turkish and the projected video will present the English translations.
