During this workshop we will work with the concepts that align with the research of Lenn Cox, local resident Wiedjai Dihal, the neighborhood and the current exhibition Where shall we plant the placenta?, which compares motherhood with ecology and connects them from mutual notions of care and concern. Together we share, through transfer printing of images and text and the processing of textiles, what care and community mean to each of us and we look for where these meanings can come together.

Lenn notes from her Collective Wandering field research that we can learn a lot from and with communities and collectives that develop and maintain alternative welfare and mutual care and support systems. In this, Lenn uses her clothes as correspondence, to carry the exchanges and stories she collects as a topic of conversation.

During her ecosystemic research Lenn also developed index cards. These cards inform and give context to her practice and help share observations and inspirational excerpts she has collected. Local resident Wiedjai Dihal also contributed to these index cards. On his card he wrote about Informal Care for Mothership Earth. With this text, he responds to our behavior towards nature, in which we “parasitize our natural resources instead of using the abundance that Mother Nature offers us in symbiosis.”

During this workshop all materials will be provided. By using the transferpress, it is possible to print on any textile. Textiles can care for, carry, protect and speak to us in different ways. Participants are therefore cordially invited to bring their own textile carriers. (for example, clothes, tea towels, shawls, pillows, etc.) Experience in working with textiles is not required, everyone is welcome!
